Moving often had heavy social effects on me and my mother. Since we were new in towns, the people inside were not too fond of newcomers, and we did not have good relations with our neighbors and the townsfolk. It also had cultural effects on us. Coming from the Boston area to Florida is a huge thing, it’s a merge of two cultures. Since I’ve lived in Florida for so long, I forget the accustoms I used to have in Massachusetts. My mother uses different kinds of words, since word meaning can differ across areas, but still has Northern accustoms, since she lived there for most of her live. Economics affected me and mother as well. In Massachusetts, there weren’t many jobs for my mother’s profession, and moving to Florida helped her, since there were plenty of jobs from hospitals. Political effects were not noticed while moving, and we never paid much attention to the government.

The type of immigration was internal migration. Me and my mother migrated to Florida from Massachusetts. My mother was 26 years old, while I was 5 years old. My mother was not making enough money, as we lived in a one-income household. In Florida, there were plenty of jobs for her profession. We migrated to Saint Cloud, Florida by car. We didn’t live in an ethnic enclave, and it felt like we were the only non-hometown family. When we were coming to Florida, we decided traveling in a car because it was cheaper than flying. After moving in 2005, we moved again in 20010 to Mission, Texas because Florida wasn’t working out like we wanted it to financially. In 2011 we moved back, because we needed to support my grandparents who had arrived in Florida.
